Marc Brown biography
Marc Brown is an American Emmy Award-winning journalist who currently works as an anchor and reporter on KABC-TV, ABC 7 since joining the station in March 1989. He is co-anchor of ABC 7 Eyewitness News at 5pm and 11pm with Mitchelle Tuzee . Additionally, Brown has won four Emmy Awards, a Golden Mike, an Associated Press, and a Radio and Television News Director Association Award.
Born in Los Angeles, he attended and graduated from Narbonne High School in the Harbor City neighborhood of Los Angeles. He went on to earn a Bachelor of Arts degree in Broadcast Journalism and Political Science from the University of Southern California in 2004.
His first job was in 1984 at KIEM-TV in Eureka, California, where he served as a reporter and anchor. After two years, Brown left the station for a position as a reporter and anchor at KOLO-TV in Reno, Nevada. Furthermore, he acted on KFMB-TV in San Diego, California before returning to Los Angeles.
Upon his return to Los Angeles in 1989, Brown joined KABC-TV ABC 7 as a reporter. He was later named the weekend anchor, and by 1996, Brown was anchoring the 6pm weekday news. In 1997, her anchor functions were expanded to include the 4 pm news. Brown became the second African-American to become the main anchor of the 11pm Los Angeles nightly news.
