Marilyn Denis is a renowned Canadian television and radio personality. Denis currently works as the host of The Marilyn Denis Show and co-host of CHUM-FM’s Marilyn Denis and Jama. Previously, she worked for CCFCN-TV and TSN as a weather reporter and announcer. Born in Edmonton, Alberta, she grew up in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.
She graduated from the University of Idaho with a BA in Radio, Television and Advertising. Before working at CCFCN-TV and TSN, Denis worked at CHFM & CJAY-FM in Calgary. She began her journalism career in Moscow, Idaho at a local radio station. At CCFCN-TV and TSN, she worked as a sports and entertainment reporter and as a meteorologist.
Denis joined the CHUM-FM morning show in July 1986 as a co-host and since then she has worked there till now. While there, she hosted the morning show “Roger, Rick and Marilyn”, which aired on Toronto’s number one radio station, 104.5 CHUM-FM. In 2008, Rick Hodge left the show and it became known as the “Roger, Darren and Marilyn” morning show. Marilyn also hosted the syndicated daytime talk show Cityline on Citytv and A-Channel from 1989 to 2008.
Furthermore, Denis hosted her last show on May 23, 2008. Furthermore, she left Cityline after working for 19 years to work with CTV Television Network. A month later, it was announced that Marilyn would begin hosting a new show titled The Marilyn Denis Show, on CTV, which premiered in January 2011. She has hosted several shows, such as the Gemini Award winning series, “Live At The Rehearsal Hall”. . In addition, Denis has received numerous awards, including the “Viewer’s Choice Award” at the Gemini Awards in 2005 and 2006. Denis received a Ph.D. honorary. in Humane Letters from her alma mater, the University of Idaho.
That same year, she was also named the “Rosalie Award” for her contribution to broadcasting. In 2007 Denis won “Best Host in a Lifestyle/Information Series” at the Gemini Awards. In addition to her work, Marilyn has also been involved in humanitarian and charity work. She is a proactive supporter of the campaign against ovarian and breast cancer and is an avid supporter of the Colorectal Cancer Association of Canada. Earlier, she was one of the first celebrities to become a member of the SickKids Constellation.
