Marvin Scott is an award-winning American journalist who currently serves as the station’s senior correspondent and anchor/host of the weekly issue-oriented program “PIX11 News Close Up”.

He joined WPIX in 1980 and has over 50 years’ experience in print and broadcast media. Marvin served on the Chief of Police’s Media Executive Committee. He is a trustee of the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences, President of the New York Chapter Awards, Bard (Vice President) of the Friars Club and past President of the Television-Radio Working Press Association.

Marvin is a member of the New York State Broadcasters Hall of Fame and has won 11 prestigious Emmy Awards for journalistic achievement. Since joining WPIX in 1980, he has worked in many ways: as an anchor, reporter, presenter, and editor. A veteran columnist with more than 50 years of involvement in print and broadcast media, Marvin’s experience spans close, public and global roles. He recently hosted “Motel Midday Version” and “USA Tonight Weekend,” a broadly partnered broadcast of WPIX’s Independent Network News. Scott was a co-anchor of the daily “WB11 News at Ten” for a long time. He has co-hosted unusual ventures including Emmy Award-winning “Operation SAIL ’92: An American Celebration”, “Activity Homecoming” and several Columbus and Puerto Rico Day marches.

Prior to joining WPIX, Marvin was an anchor/reporter for WNEW-TV (now WNYW-TV). He has held previous roles as anchor, correspondent and producer for CNN, Mutual Broadcasting System and WABC-TV. Marvin’s duties took him from the bloody edges of Iraq, Cambodia and the Middle East, to the depths of the US South, where he dealt with social liberties. He fought with Dr. Martin Luther King. He spent Christmas 2004, 2006, 2008 and 2009 with New York fighters in Iraq and Afghanistan. He interviewed six presidents of the United States. Marvin’s coverage of the Whitewater Congressional Hearings won an Emmy Award for “Outstanding Political Reporting.”

A veteran reporter for the US Space Program, Marvin witnessed the sending of several Gemini, Apollo and Space Shuttle flights. Marvin pulled 9 G’s into the F-16’s stream, hovered over Long Island Sound in a nuclear attack submarine, and rang the final bell of the New York Stock Exchange.

He is the author of “From my perspective: A Reporter’s Intrepid Trip”, a compilation of 26 of the most notable accounts of the 15,000 assessed over the past 50 years. Marvin is also an experienced photographer whose work has been seen on display in New York.
