Matt Zaffino biography
Matt Zaffino is an American meteorologist who currently works as a chief meteorologist at KGW-TV in Portland, Oregon since December 1996. Prior to that, he worked as a weekend meteorologist in Portland at KATU. While there, he anchored in environmental reports and told stories for the news. Matt is a ten-time winner of the Oregon Press Meteorologist Award.
He also helped launch KATU’s morning and evening news. In addition, he did environmental reporting and told stories for the news. His career, on the other hand, began after graduating from the University of Utah, where he earned his master’s degree in Meteorology. He later joined the WGTU as a meteorologist.
After his career journey, he reported on the Summer Olympics in Sydney, Australia in 2000, the Winter Olympics in Utah in 2002 and the Greenland Ice Sheet on climate change research. Matt celebrated 25 years of broadcasting in the Northwest and earned the prestigious National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences.
In addition to working, he volunteers for charities such as the Business Education Compact, working with the Oregon Humane Society, the American Cancer Society, the Feral Cat Coalition of Oregon, and Medical Teams International.
