Melissa Leong is an Australian television presenter, freelance food writer, chef, travel writer, cookbook editor and marketing professional. She is known for her role as a judge on MasterChef Australia. Leong was born and raised in Sydney, Australia. Additionally, she is the co-founder of the youth hospitality group TOYS COLLECTIVE.
He attended the Inaburra school, where he was part of the school’s orchestra and musical groups. Afterwards, Leong enrolled at the University of Sydney, where he graduated with a double degree in economics and social science. She began working in the food industry as a freelance food critic for publications such as Time Out Sydney, before moving into PR, marketing and digital media consultancy. Melissa has worked with some of the most important and respected names in the Australian food scene. She has also worked with group companies such as Gelato Messina, Meat & Livestock Australia (MLA) and more. Additionally, Leong has collaborated with digital advertising brands such as Coca-Cola, Nokia, and LG.
Prior to that, she made her TV debut on The Chefs Line with chefs Dan Hong and Mark Olive for two seasons in 2017 and 2018. Early, Melissa and Chef Morgan McGlone co-founded the youth hospitality group TOYS COLLECTIVE, which was recognized and awarded for its contribution to industry innovation by The Age and Sydney Morning Herald Good Food guides. In addition, she also worked as a television presenter and judge on Channel 10’s MasterChef Australia alongside judges Jock Zonfrillo and Andy Allen.
Melissa has also appeared regularly as a guest on Justine Schofield’s Everyday Gourmet and Matt Sinclair’s The Cook’s Pantry. More recently, she was featured in a campaign for Visit Victoria, as well as QT Hotels and Perrier-Jouet Champagne. At the end of 2020, Leong was named the sexiest person of 2020 by Who magazine. In addition, she has worked as an MC and hosted events with celebrity chefs such as Peter Gilmore de Quay, Alex Atala, Marco Pierre White and Rick Stein.
