Meredith Vieira is an American journalist and television personality. She is best known as the original moderator of the daytime talk show The View (1997–2006), an ABC talk show that ran from 1997 to 2006. Vieira later co-hosted the NBC News morning show Today from 2006- 2011.

Vieira began her radio broadcasting career as a newscaster for WORC radio in Worcester, Massachusetts, in 1975. At WORC, she made afternoon news during the BJ Dean Show. Her television debut started at WJAR-TV, where she worked as a reporter and local anchor. Eventually, she joined the WCBS-TV newsroom in New York, where she worked as an investigative reporter from 1979 to 1982.
However, she first gained national recognition as a reporter for CBS based in the Chicago office between 1982 and 1984. She later worked as a correspondent for national news magazine programs; West 57 and 60 minutes. His final assignment at CBS was as a co-anchor of the CBS Morning News from 1992 to 1993.
The following year, she moved to ABC initially as one of six regular correspondents on the Turing Point magazine news program (1994-99). At the same time, Meredith hosted the Lifetime Network show Intimate Portrait, which premiered on January 3, 1995, until August 28, 2004.
