Biography Michael Landsberg
Michael Elliott Landsberg is a Canadian sportswriter and former host of TSNs, First Up with Landsberg and Colaiacovo. Previously, Landsberg worked as the host of TSN’s Off the Record with Michael Landsberg from 1997 to 2015. Previously, he is an ambassador for Bell Let’s Talk and founder of #SickNotWeak, a charitable organization.
Landsberg was born and raised in Canada. He is a graduate of Forest Hill Collegiate Institute. Elliott began his national career as an anchor on SportsDesk on TSN in 1984. While there, he aired over 5,000 episodes before joining TSN’s 30-minute show. At age 30 on TSN, Michael hosted the daily sports debate show Off the Record from 1997 to 2015. The show is one of Canada’s longest running talk shows and he has become one of Canada’s most trusted sports voices.
Previously, Micheal co-hosted TSN 1050’s Naylor & Landsberg in the Morning and also hosted TSN’s First Up alongside former Toronto Maple Leaf player Carlo Colaiacovo. Throughout her career, Landsberg has covered major sporting events including skating at the 1988 Winter Olympics in Calgary and Olympic Daytime on CTV during the 2010 Winter Olympics in Vancouver. Additionally, at the London 2012 Olympic Games, he anchored TSN’s Olympic Daytime.
For his work, Landsberg was twice nominated for a Gemini Award for Outstanding Host in a Sports Program. He left TSN in July 2021. In addition to his work, Michael is an ambassador for Bell Let’s Talk, an initiative that raises awareness of mental health, and founder of #SickNotWeak, a charity that reframes mental illness. The foundation serves as a resource and community for people living with mental illness and those who want to support their loved ones.
In addition, he has received numerous awards, including in 2017, he was awarded the Meritorious Service Medal for his mental health advocacy, presented by the Governor General of Canada, at a ceremony held at Rideau Hall. In her spare time, Landsberg likes to work out at the gym four times a week and enjoys skiing, sailing and coaching her son’s roller hockey team.
