Biography of Miguel Almaguer
Miguel Almaguer is an American journalist who currently works as a correspondent for NBC News, reporting for all divisions of the network and based out of his Los Angeles office. He joined the station in 2009.
Almaguer participated Berkeley High School and later participated in University of California, Santa Cruz. He also attended a community college in his hometown. While there, his aunt recommended that he seek out a class taught by his co-anchor at San Francisco State University. He enrolled in the school and, years later, said he “fell in love with the broadcast department, my classes and my local journalism internship… the living room. “
He graduated with honors from SFSU with a degree in broadcast communications. After graduation, he began his television career with KSBW in Salinas, California in 2000. In 2003, he became a reporter for KCRA-TV in Sacramento. Miguel then joined WRC-TV in Washington, DC in 2006 as a general mission reporter covering breaking news. Later, on April 2, 2009, he was hired as a correspondent for NBC News in Burbank, California to report for all divisions of the network, including NBC Nightly News, Today and MSNBC.
Furthermore, throughout his career, he has won numerous awards and nominations. In 2004, he won an Edward R. Murrow Award for Spot News. In addition, he won an Emmy Award for his reporting on the 2007 San Diego wildfires. Almaguer has also received awards from the National Association of Hispanic Journalists.
