Mike Blowers is a former American Major League Baseball player who has currently worked as a color commentator for Mariners radio and television broadcasts since 2007. He has also starred with Dave Niehaus, an announcer for the Ford C. Frck Baseball Hall of Fame Award. He goes on to serve with Dave Sims.
Born in West Germany, he attended and graduated from Bethel High School in Spanaway and played college baseball at Tacoma Community College and the University of Washington in Seattle. In his freshman year, he was selected by the Marines in the 1984 Major League Baseball Draft. He, however, chose not to sign with the Marines. In his freshman year in Washington, he won a triple crown in the Pc-10 North Division with the Huskies and was selected by the Montreal Expos in the tenth round of the 1986 MLB Draft.
Most notably, he began his MLB career with the New York Yankees on September 1, 1989. His last game with the New York Yankees was on October 3, 1999, when he played the Seattle Mariners. After his playing career ended, he switched to journalism where he decided to become a commentator. He has been a television and radio commentator for the Seattle Mariners since 2007.
