Biography of Morgan Ortagus
Morgan Deann Ortagus is a well-known American television commentator, financial analyst, and political consultant who served as Spokesperson for the United States Department of State from 2019 to 2021. Previously, Morgan served as Spokesperson for the US Department during the administration by Donald Trump.
Ortagus was born in Auburndale, Florida. She graduated from Johns Hopkins University with a Master of Arts and a Master of Business Administration from the Carey Business School. Furthermore, she has a Bachelor of Science in Political Science from Florida Southern College. While attending high school, Ortagus participated in beauty pageants to win scholarships. She has participated in Miss Orange Blossom, Miss Florida Citrus, Miss Auburndale and Miss Teen Auburndale. She won Miss Florida Beauty and received a $3,000 scholarship to the pageant.
Morgan began his government service as a public affairs officer at the United States Agency for International Development (USAID), where he spent several months in Baghdad, Iraq. There she was an intelligence analyst for the United States Treasury in the Office of Intelligence and Analysis. Previously, Morgan was the US Treasury’s main liaison with Saudi Arabia’s banking sector.
Furthermore, she also worked in politics as a campaign staffer for Florida Republican Congressman Adam Putnam. In 2006, she was hired to work as a press secretary for the senatorial campaign of former deputy national security adviser KT McFarland. She also volunteered for Jeb Bush’s 2016 presidential campaign. That same year, she also served as Executive Director at Ernst & Young (EY), where she helped found EY’s Geostrategic Business Group, working on geopolitical risk analysis for investors. In addition, Ortagus also worked as a global relationship manager at Standard Chartered Bank, working with clients in Asia, the Middle East and Africa.
Morgan has also appeared as a guest host on ‘Fox News’ and ‘Fox Business’. Some of his ‘Fox’ shows are ‘Outnumbered’, ‘Fox and Friends First’, ‘Bulls & Bears’, ‘The Greg Gutfeld Show’ and ‘Fox News Specialists’ among others. She has also served as a political and financial advisor to Fox News. Morgan serves as co-chair of the ‘Maverick PAC’, a body that provides a platform for the next generation of American leaders in business and politics.
Despite this, Ortagus is one of the board members of the ‘Elizabeth Dole Foundation’ and the ‘Friends of the American University of Afghanistan’. Additionally, Morgan joined ‘Concordia’, a non-profit, non-partisan organization that facilitates meaningful partnerships for positive social impact. As an advisor to ‘Concordia, she works to develop the organization’s diplomacy and national security programs and contributes to its strategic direction.
