
Biography of Naz Aydemir
Naz Aydemir Akyol is Turkish volleyball player who has won a total of nine Turkish League championships, four with Vakıfbank, three with Eczacıbaşı and two with Fenerbahçe. She currently plays as a setter for Eczacıbaşı Dynavit and the Turkish women’s national volleyball team. Furthermore, Naz is widely known as one of the best setters in international volleyball. In addition, she also holds three FIVB Club World Championships and four CEV Champions League championships.
Furthermore, Akyol was born and raised in Istanbul, Turkey, where she attended Istanbul Bilgi University for her higher education. Soon after graduation, she began her professional career with the Turkish national team, where she played over 200 times. She also played 16 seasons of the CEV Champions League and eventually set an unprecedented record by playing in the CEV Champions League final. For one year, Naz played for senior-level club volleyball and later became the captain of the Turkish youth national team.
As the team captain, she led the team to win the silver medal at the 2007 World Championship. In addition, Aydemir also led the team to receive a bronze medal and won the Most Valuable Player (MVP) award of the tournament. She later won the Best Setter awards consecutively and the championships with her clubs Fenerbahçe and Vakıfbank in the CEV Champions League. After that, Naz also won her first gold medal at the FIVB Women’s Club World Championship at the 2010 Club World Championship. Through her hard work, she enabled her team Fenerbahçe to become the first Turkish team to win the FIVB Women’s Club World Championship.

Her second gold medal came at the 2013 Club World Championship playing with Vakıfbank, which became the second Turkish team to win the Club World Championship. Additionally, she also received a silver medal in the 2013–14 CEV Champions League when her club VakıfBank defeated Eczacıbaşı VitrA in the semi-final. Aydemir also received the tournament’s special Fair Play award. From 2016 to 2017, she won the Champions League gold medal with VakıfBank after her team defeated Imoco Volley Conegliano.
For her performance, she received the Best Setter award. However, after six years of working for Vakıfbank Istanbul, Naz took time off for her maternity leave. Afterwards, she returned to her former club Fenerbahçe Opet in the 2019-2020 season. Likewise, she was selected among the 100 most influential FIVB volleyball players from 2010 to 2020 by Roster 100.
