Neil Everett Biography
Neil Everett Morfitt is an American sportscaster for ESPN. He is the co-anchor of the West Coast edition of SportsCenter alongside Stan Verrett. Previously, Everett worked as a sports anchor for KITV News.
Everett was born in Portland, Oregon, and raised in Spokane, Washington. He attended school at Lewis and Clark High School where he played football and basketball, was named to the all-city team in football at guard, and also played on the defensive line. After graduating in 1980 Neil joined Willamette University in Salem and then transferred to Oregon University in Eugene where he graduated in 1984. He was also a member of the Beta Theta Pi fraternity at Willamette and continued that membership in Oregon.
Neil began his journalism career at KCST-FM in Florence on the central Oregon Coast, west of Eugene. He then left the station and joined Hawaii Pacific University where he worked for over 15 years where Everett served as an athletic administrator. While still working for Hawaii Pacific University he was employed by local ABC affiliate KITV, first as a news writer, then assignment editor, and finally as a sports anchor.
Everett joined ESPN in July 2000 as an anchor for ESPNEWS and SportsCenter.In 2009, he relocated to California to anchor the late-night Los Angeles edition of SportsCenter, which debuted on April 6, 2009. Currently, Neil is working as a sportscaster for ESPN.
