Nicole Mitchell is a renowned American meteorologist currently working for KSTP 5 Eyewitness News in St. Paul, Minnesota. Mitchell joined KSTP 5 in Minneapolis-St. Paul in June 2017. She is also a Major in the Air National Guard, commanding the 126th Weather Flight.
Previously, Nicole worked in the US Air Force Reserve, assigned to the 53rd Meteorological Reconnaissance Squadron at Keesler Air Force Base, Mississippi, as an air reconnaissance meteorological officer. She also worked on the Weather Channel from 2004 to 2011 and on Al Jazeera from 2013 to 2016.
Nicole has a bachelor’s degree in speech communication from University of Minnesota, in addition to his Air Force degree in weather. Her desire to learn led her to pursue a Juris Doctor (legal degree) at Georgia State University. It also belongs to the American Meteorological Society and has used the AMS Seal since 2000.

Nicole began her weather career right out of high school, when she joined the Minnesota Air National Guard and was trained by the military first as a weather watcher. Eventually, she trained as a Weather Forerunner, giving her the opportunity to predict the weather across the country and across the world.
Later, Nicole was transferred from the National Guard to the Air Force Reserves, where she now works as a weather officer for the hurricane chasers. Hurricanes fly in tropical weather to collect data that is used in forecasting tropical storms and hurricanes. She has also flown in storms like Hurricane Katrina and Wilma.
Nicole’s television career began in Duluth, MN, where she worked as an Assignment Manager, but also reported, produced, and started doing TV weather. She then worked as a television meteorologist in Rapid City, SD, South Bend, IN, Tulsa, OK, Mimi, and New York.
