Pepe Aguilar is a Mexican-American singer, songwriter, and actor famous for his songs and film appearances. From a young age, he accompanied his parents, the Mexican singers and actors Antonio Aguilar and Flor Silvestre on tour.
Most notably, he played his first show at the age of three, joining his father on stage at Madison Square Garden in New York. Aguilar followed his father’s example and does so with his own children, who seem to have followed in the footsteps of their father and grandparents.
As a teenager, he was a rock fan and had a band called “Equus”. However, the band didn’t last long, but this led to him making his first album. His musical influences were Pink Floyd and The Who. However, leaving his teenage years behind, he turned to regional Mexican music once again.
Later, in 1989, he started his career as a solo artist with the release of “Pepe Aguilar Con Tambora”, and later released special editions. In 1992, he recorded his first mariachi album entitled “Recuerdame Bonito”, produced by the Mexican singer and songwriter Joan Sebastian.

After refusing to release an album due to legal disputes between him and his label, in July 1998 he released Por Mujeres Como Tu, which became a household name in Mexico and Latin America. On February 9, 1999, the album was released. Most notably, it was this very album that solidified his career.
As a businessman and independent artist, he has his own record label and studio with the highest technology in Latin America. In 2009, he launched his own fashion line called “Pepe Aguilar Linea de Calzado”.
Furthermore, he has sold over 12 million albums worldwide and his work has won him numerous awards. He has won four Grammy Awards, five Latin Grammy Awards, nineteen Lo Nuestro Awards and a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
