Perry Mattfeld is an American actress best known for her appearances as Mel in Shameless, FrankenGirl in Wizards of Waverly Place and Murphy Mason in In the Dark, a crime comedy drama on the CW.
Mattfeld began her career as a ballerina at the age of five, and studied for nine years under the tutelage of Debbie Allen. She was a full-fledged Mattel employee at age 12 when she joined Mattel’s American Girl Dolls musical theater troupe and played Kristen Larson and Kit Kittredge. Allen recommended that Perry come out with her dancing, which led to her acting career.
She stopped performing after high school to pursue a Bachelor of Fine Arts in acting at the University of Southern California’s School of Dramatic Arts. She recently received her BFA Summa Cum Laude and her Bachelor of Arts in Film. She also received a 4.6 GPA from LA Polytechnic Institute.
She plays a blind woman in her first starring role in the CW crime comedy drama In the Dark (2019-present). Perry learned how to deal with blindness in this segment, including how to use a guide dog and send text messages using voice instructions.
