Poppy Harlow Biography
Poppy Harlow (Katherine Julia Harlow) is a renowned American journalist famous for reporting on CNN and Forbes.com. She is based in CNN’s New York office, where she anchors the CNN Newsroom from 9 am to 11 am, ET, alongside Jim Sciutto.
Previously, Poppy worked as a business correspondent for CNN, CNN International and HLN as an anchor for CNNMoney.com. Furthermore, she worked as an anchor, reporter and producer for Forbes.com Video Network. She is currently also a weekday help presenter for CNN’s New Day morning news program.
Harlow began working as an intern at CBS while still in college. She then continued working for CBS MarketWatch, as well as serving as an assistant producer for CBS Newspath after her graduation.

Poppy had the opportunity to work as a reporter and anchor for the local edition of NY1 News. On the station, she covered Staten Island and New Jersey reporting on local politics, local cultural events and the economy. In September 2007, she was signed to Forbes.com Video Network, where she diversified her coverage to fashion, entertainment and business topics.
It was in April 2012 that Poppy was named CNN’s New York correspondent. After several years as a reporter, she joined CNN in 2008 as an anchor for CNNMoney.com, where she reported for CNN, CNN International, and HLN. In addition, she won the Gracie Award for Best Feature Film Online Investigative Program and SABEW’s Best in Business award. Poppy sometimes replaces Richard Quest on CNN International.
On December 28, 2015, she briefly passed out live on air from the CNN anchor desk. Soon after, she appeared on air and said that it had just gotten a little hot and it was fine. Effective February 6, 2017, Poppy and Jim Sciutto took over as new anchors for CNN Newsroom from 9 am to 11 am every morning due to Carol Costello’s move to HLN.
