Richard Eisen is an American television presenter. sports announcer and radio host who currently works for the NFL Network. He also hosts a daily sports radio show called The Rich Eisen Show. Additionally, Eisen has been working for the network since joining in 2003 and has hosted various shows such as halftime, pre-game, and post-game. Additionally, he is known for his appearances on NFL Total Access, NFL GameDay Morning, Thursday Night Football, and many other shows. Richard is a writer and producer, known for Draft Day, The Kid, and That’s My Boy.
Furthermore, he was born in Brooklyn and raised in Staten Island, New York. After that, he attended a local school in his hometown and later enrolled at the University of Michigan. During his time there, Rich worked as the co-sports editor of the school’s Michigan Daily and was a member of the Pi Kappa Phi fraternity. In 1990, he graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree and soon after continued his studies at Northwestern University. There, he received a Master of Science degree in journalism.
Soon after graduation, he began his career as a writer for the Staten Island Advance and later worked at the Chicago Tribune. After that, he joined KRCR-TV in Redding, California as a sports anchor and reporter. In addition, he also worked as a Washington correspondent for Medill News Service. From 1996 to 2003, Rich worked as an anchor and reporter for ESPN before joining the NFL Network. Eisen was part of a comedy duo with Stuart Scott and was known for his sense of humor. In addition, he also worked as the host of ESPN’s reality show, Beg, Borrow & Deal.
Eisen has also worked for different shows like The Tony Kornheiser Show, The Dan Patrick Show, and CBS Radio Show. His most notable achievement while at ESPN was breaking the news of St. Louis slugger Mark McGwire’s retirement from baseball in 2001 on SportsCenter. After he joined the NFL Network in June 2003, he became the main host of NFL Total Access. Additionally, Eisen also worked as a new host of NFL GameDay Morning, the first pregame show on the NFL Network.

In 2010, Rich expanded his podcast called “The Rich Eisen Podcast”, the first podcast on NFL.com. He also hosts his nationally syndicated sports radio show alongside Chris Brockman, Michael Del Tufo, and TJ Jefferson. Four years later, he started a new sports radio/TV show, The Rich Eisen Show, which aired on the NFL and DirecTV’s El Segundo, California Studios on Audience Network. In 2020, the show moved from Audience to YouTube due to Audience’s impending shutdown.
Two years later, the show also moved to The Roku Channel, where it was located on Sirius XM satellite radio and internet streaming. The show is currently available on Sirius app channel 216, XM 202, and SXM 992. In 2022, Richard also earned a nomination for the Outstanding Studio Show Sports Emmy Award. Additionally, he has also appeared as a guest star in five episodes of the Disney TV series The Might Ducks: Game Changers.
