Rich Luterman is an American meteorologist who currently serves as the chief meteorologist at FOX 2 News. He joined the FOX 2 Weather Authority team in 1997. You can see him every night during the 5pm, 6pm, 10pm and 11pm news. Luterman received the American Meteorological Society (AMS) Seal of Approval in 1994.
Rich, a Pittsburgh native, holds a bachelor’s degree in meteorology from Pennsylvania State University in 1988. He was commissioned second lieutenant in the United States ROTC Air Force and served as a meteorological officer for four and a half years on active duty. During Operation Desert Storm in 1991, he was commander of a meteorological detachment for six months.
Rich worked as chief meteorologist at WKTV in Utica, New York, after leaving the Air Force.
Additionally, Lutherman gives back to the community by sharing his understanding of the climate with young students. After being diagnosed with diabetes in 2012, he also works with the American Diabetes Association to raise awareness. Lutherman is also involved with veterans’ organizations in Southeast Michigan.
