Richard Osman biography
Richard Osman is an English comedian, television presenter, producer, writer and creator of the BBC One Pointless Q&A show. He hosted two BBC Q&A programmes, Two Tribes, and Richard Osman’s House of Games. He was also a team captain on the comedy show Insert Name Here and The Fake News Show. Osman gained recognition for his appearances on many British panels.
Attended and graduated Warden Park School in Cuckfield. While in school, he gained his first broadcasting experience. That was as a regular contributor to Turn It Up. From 1989 to 1992, he studied politics and sociology at Trinity College. There, he was a contemporary of Pointless co-host Alexander Armstrong, who read English.
He started his career working as an executive producer on British game shows. These shows included Deal or No Deal, among others. Osman was the creative director of the TV company Endemol UK. He created the short-lived 2013 IT gameshow Prize Island. Additionally, he served as script editor for BBC One’s Total Wipeout. In 1999, he created and wrote the Channel 4 sitcom Boyz Unlimited with David Williams and Matt Lucas. In 2015, Osman co-created and co-wrote the Channel 4 animated comedy Bromwell High. However, he left Endemol in 2020.
