Ryan Chiaverini biography

Ryan Chiaverini is an Emmy-winning television personality from Chicago and the Midwest and co-host of Windy City Live on ABC Chicago, WLS-TV, alongside Val Warner. The show initially replaced the 9 a.m. Chicago time of “Oprah” on WLS-TV. Previously, the working title was originally called Morning Rush. Furthermore, Ryan has been credited with naming the show “Windy City Live,” or WCL. Chicago’s only live talk show that features celebrities, musicians, restaurants and all things Chicago.

Ryan participated Corona College, where he was senior class president and prom king. He then joined and graduated from University of Colorado in Boulder in 2000 with a BA in broadcast journalism.

Chiaverini began his career at KFBB in Great Falls, Montana as a weekend sports anchor. He wrote, produced, and filmed primarily high school sports and local college athletics.

In just under a year, Ryan accepted a similar position, as a weekend sports anchor at KTVQ in Billings, MT. Fortunately, in 2002, when he was 24 years old, he got a job as a sports reporter at KUSA in Denver, Colorado. He spent four seasons covering the Denver Broncos and served as host of the Mike Shanahan Show and John Elway’s Crush Zone.


Ryan accepted an offer to be a sports reporter on WLS-TV in 2006. He spent five years covering the Chicago Bears, Chicago Bulls, Chicago BlackHawks, Chicago Cubs, and Chicago White Sox. He was promoted to Weekend Sports Anchor on WLS-TV in 2010.

Additionally, Chiaverini hosted The Chicago Huddle for three consecutive seasons, a weekly show by the Bears. Ryan won season 9 of American Idol, with Chicagoan Lee DeWyze as the show’s in-house entertainment at the ESPN Zone in downtown Chicago.

Furthermore, Ryan is also a hobbyist musician, being a singer and guitarist. He released “Chicago” in August 2014 on iTunes and Youtube. This was a song he wrote and recorded with guest appearances by several prominent Chicagoans, including Club Hall of Famer Ernie Banks. iTunes proceeds benefit the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention.

Furthermore, he performed with his friend and Grammy Award winner Richard Marx at a media clarity event called Newsapalooza. Additionally, Modern Luxury Magazine in 2001 named Ryan among Chicago’s Most Eligible Singles, and New York City named him the Most Handsome Male TV Personality.
