Sandra Sully is an Australian news presenter and journalist and editor of 10 News First in Sydney and Queensland. She is also an actress known for roles in films such as Backyard Ashes (2013), Quick Ones (2000) and Big Sky (1997).
Born and raised in Brisbane, Queensland, Australia. Sully attended Brisbane State High School, where she graduated in 1978. She joined Network Ten’s news team in 1991, when she worked in the network’s parliamentary office in Canberra, Australian Capital Territory. Sully was the first Australian television journalist to cover news of the 9/11 terrorist attacks. She was broadcasting when the initial incident took place and began providing live coverage immediately afterwards. In addition, Sandra also organized Cool Aid Australia’s National Carbon Test.
Furthermore, she served as the first co-host of the Melbourne Cup show for seven years. Additionally, Sully hosts Network Ten’s Ten Eyewitness News Sydney alongside Hugh Riminton. She, along with her fellow journalist, started a program titled New Police Crime, where she does interviews with victims’ loved ones to appeal to the public to help solve the case by calling Crimestoppers.
Furthermore, Sandra began her career presenting Ten Eyewitness News Brisbane in the 1990s. As part of a rebranding of 10 News First, Sully has also presented the Queensland Newsletter since September 2020 produced in Sydney. She also presented Ten’s Sydney main bulletin at 5pm on weekdays. Earlier, she hosted 10 News First Sydney in 2018.
In his career as a journalist, Sully has covered major events such as coverage of the London royal wedding and Oprah Winfrey’s ‘O’ event at the Botanic Gardens. She also reported the senior editor story of the TEN Late News with Sport Tonight and the Federal Budget. Prior to that, Sandra covered the 1994 Commonwealth Games and the 1996 Summer Olympics, among other events.
