Sera Congi is a renowned American journalist who currently works as a reporter at the WCVB in Boston, Massachusetts. Prior to joining the network, Sera worked as a general reporter and anchor for nearly 10 years at WBZ News.
Congi began her journalistic career at CBS News as a desk assistant for the Northeast Bureau in New York, as well as on the news show Eye to Eye with Connie Chung. She has covered some of the biggest stories in Boston including Marathon Bombings, Watertown Manhunt, Whitey Bulger Trial and Market Basket Stalemate. Additionally, she covered the shootings in Newtown, Connecticut, and several presidential primaries in New Hampshire.
Sera was also featured in a 20/20 episode of ABC News’ Can Words Kill? which took a comprehensive approach to the controversial Massachusetts text-messaging suicide case. Notably, she had a special opportunity to speak with fellow journalists in China in 2017. As a staff member at the University of Missouri, Sera gave several presentations on television reporting for journalism at two broadcast stations in Jinan, China.
Prior to joining WCVB 5 in 2014, Congi hosted the award-winning 6pm and 11pm newscasts on WCAX-TV in Burlington, Vermont. Furthermore, she has won several awards for her performance as a medical reporter for the news team, most notably investigating a hospital corruption scheme known as ‘Burlington’s Big Dig’. She receives an Edward R. Murrow Award for her work covering Vermont Governor Howard Dean’s presidential race.
