Shannon Ryan biography
Shannon Ryan is an American journalist who currently works as a crime reporter for Fox 7 Austin News. She reports weekdays at 4pm and 5pm, and her Crimewatch show airs Mondays at 9pm. Ryan started working for the station as a multimedia journalist in April 2019. She worked at DCW50 and WDVM-TV as an anchor, producer and multimedia journalist before coming to Austin.
In cooperation with the Curley Center for Sports Journalism, she covered the 2016 US Paralympic Games in Rio de Janeiro for the Associated Press. Shannon was admitted to Fox 29 Philadelphia in 2016 and covered the Democratic National Convention. Her work was recognized in the Hearst Multimedia News II Contest.
Ryan also produced multimedia content for the Catholic News Service during Pope Francis’ visits to Philadelphia and Washington, DC in 2015. She worked for the Big Ten Network as a side reporter for StudentU while in college. She was also employed by GoPSUsports.com.
Shannon thanks the New York State Broadcasters Association for providing her with her first internship at Albany, New York’s WNYT Channel 13. She also worked for the WPSU-Centre TV County Report, an Emmy-winning student broadcast, as an anchor, reporter, and producer.
Ryan was also part of Pennsylvania State University’s very competitive international reporting program. She went to Greece to investigate human smuggling. Several regional PBS stations broadcast her work.
Shannon holds a BA in Broadcast Journalism and Political Science from Pennsylvania State University. She enjoys being outdoors, eating vegan, doing yoga and spending time with her Austin Pets Alive puppy Millie in her spare time.
