Biography of Shaynah Ferreira
Shaynah Ferreira is an Emmy-nominated American journalist who currently serves as an anchor and reporter on FOX29 in Philadelphia. She joined the station in August 2021 as a reporter and general anchor.
Prior to joining FOX 29 News, Ferreira worked as an anchor and reporter at WTNH 8 News, the Hartford, CT-based ABC station for two years. His extensive reporting on the COVID-19 pandemic and its disproportionate effect on communities of color earned him an Emmy nomination.
Ferreira began her television career as an associate producer in her hometown of WJAR-TV in Providence, Rhode Island, before taking his air break on WSAV-TV, the NBC station in Savannah, GA.
During her tenure at Peach State, she covered Hurricanes Michael and Dorian, the Jacksonville Landing mass shooting, and the trial of 5 blood gang members accused of shooting and killing a Savannah State University student.
Regarding his education, Ferreira obtained his bachelor’s degree in Broadcast Journalism from Emerson College In Boston. In addition, she completed a journalism course in Havana, Cuba. While there, she executive produced the mini-documentary “Afro-Cuba Libre,” a segment that documents racial tensions and inequalities on the island.
In addition, Ferreira is an active member of the National Association of Black Journalists as well as the National Association of Hispanic Journalists. She is multilingualTalking Spanish, Portugueseand Cape Verdean Creoleand intends to use his language skills to tell a wide range of stories to viewers across the Philadelphia region.
