Shelley Smith is an American sports journalist and correspondent who currently works as a reporter for ESPN SportsCenter. She joined the network in 1997. Smith is also an author and has written two books. She is a proud graduate of the University of Nebraska, where she graduated in 1981 with a BA in Journalism and Political Science.
Prior to joining her current station, she worked for Sports Illustrated, Stars and Stripes. Additionally, she worked for The San Francisco Examiner where she obtained a William Randolph Hearts Award for her series on Title IX in the Bay Area in 1986.
She covered the 1988 Olympics and covered almost every sporting event out there. This includes the Super Bowl and the NBA Finals, among others. She is currently the ESPN NFL National Reporter for the Los Angeles Chargers.
