Simone Eli biography
Simone Eli is an American journalist who has currently been working as a sports anchor and reporter for CBS 42 since 2017. Eli brings nearly a decade of experience in the sports television industry to CBS 42. Simone was born and raised in Genoa, Ohio. She earned her Master of Education in Sports Management and Bachelor of Science in Journalism while playing D-1 basketball at Bowling Green State University.
Simone was the weekend sports anchor on KPRC 2 (NBC) in Houston, Texas before moving to Birmingham. She spent most of her time at KPRC covering professional sports, college football, and high school football.
Simone is no stranger to the state of Alabama. Most recently, she co-hosted 95.3 The Bear’s morning show in Tuscaloosa. Furthermore, Eli served as the Sports Director for WALA FOX10 News in Mobile from 2013 to 2014 where she covered Auburn in the BCS National Championship Game.
Simone began her broadcasting career as a TV announcer, color analyst and reporter for the Buckeye Cable Sports Network, where she covered a variety of sports. Eli became Director of Sports for BG24 News, the university’s campus television station, shortly after starting at BGSU. She was in charge of the role for two years before joining BCSN.
Furthermore, Eli was a member of the BGSU Women’s Division 1 basketball team. The Hawks won three Mid-American Conference Championships during her tenure, in 2010, 2011, and 2012. She and her teammates qualified for two NCAA tournaments and appeared in two WNIT tournaments.
Eli is married to Bart Sessions, the football coach at McAdory High School, GO YELLOW JACKETS.
