Steve Levy is an American journalist who currently serves as a sportscaster on ESPN. He is famous for his work broadcasting college football on Monday Night Football and National Hockey League. Born in New York, he attended John F. Kennedy High School in Bellmore. He later graduated from the State University of New York with a degree in communications and broadcasting in 1987.
Prior to joining ESPN, Levy worked at radio and television stations across the United States. He has worked for WFAN, MSG Network, WCBS-TV, WABC-AM and WNBC-AM. Moving to his ESPN career, Levy has been part of the ESPN family since August 1, 1993. He works at ESPN’s SportsCenter and hosts the nightly edition on Monday night during the NFL season.
Additionally, he covered the NHL regular season and playoff games before the network lost the rights to broadcast the league’s games. Levy has also worked as a play-by-play commentator for Wednesday Night Baseball and serves as ESPN’s main play-by-play announcer for the XFL in 2020.
In addition to his career in journalism, he also has a brief career as an actor. He appeared in the 2007 film The Game Plan, which starred Dwayne Johnson, Madison Pitts and Kyra Sedgwick in the title role. He went on to appear in the 2012 film Parental Guidance.
