Steve Stewart Biography
Steve Stewart is an American journalist who has currently been working as a weekend morning weather forecaster at ABC11 News since spring 2006. Stewart has been an on-air weather forecaster since 1989 and has been a leading designer using the WSI since 1997.
Steve attended Metropolitan State College of Denver between 1991 and 1994 and majored in broadcast journalism.
He then began his career at age 19 at Colorado’s Hoak Media KREX-TV as a nighttime weather anchor. That was from November 1989 to June 1991, when he left to join KSFY-TV in Sioux Falls, SD to work as an anchor and weekend reporter.
Steve then left KSFY-TV in April 1993 and moved to Colorado Springs, Colorado. In Colorado, he joined KKTV 11 News in August 1993 as a part-time weekend weatherman. After two years of service, Stewart moved to Santa Barbara, California, and joined KEYT-TV as the station’s chief meteorologist.
After serving KEYT-TV for 8 years, Steve eventually left the station and joined WNCN in Raleigh, North Carolina in June 2004. He served as the station’s weekend meteorologist and weather graphic design for NBC O&O’s.
In June 2016, Steve joined ABC11 News in Raleigh NC as a weekend weatherman. He is the host of the station’s weekend morning show and is responsible for the weather charts at the station.
Steve received the AMS Seal of Approval and is best known in the TV weather community as the best person on weather charts in the country. Furthermore, Stewart was a professional comedian in Denver while finishing meteorology school. While in Santa Barbara, Steve received 4 Golden Globes, 3 AP Awards and 2 RTNDA Awards for Best Meteorologist.
