Strange World introduces viewers to an openly gay teenager, Ethan Clade.
Walt Disney Animation Studios’ new film, Strange World, promises an exciting sci-fi action-adventure set in a strange world. It was released on Wednesday, November 23, 2022, and has an all-star cast. They’ve given queer-coded villains, background characters who may be lesbians, supporting characters with easy-to-cut lines that reveal their orientation, or some main characters who seem subtextually queer but don’t dare express themselves.
The Don Hall-directed film follows the Clade family, legendary adventurers who embark on a dangerous new mission. Ethan Clade is the son of Searcher Clade. When the role of Ethan Clade debuted, fans were concerned to find out more about him since Ethan is Disney’s first gay lead character.
Strange World: Ethan Clade Is Disney’s First Gay Mainstream Teen Hero
Disney’s Strange World guides viewers on a multi-generational adventure centering on three men from the Clade family. Ethan Clade (voiced by Jaboukie Young-White) is the son of Searcher Clade (from (Jake Gyllenhaal). Ethan follows in his father’s footsteps in that he doesn’t want to follow in his father’s footsteps. .
Ethan is the gay character that has been indicated in the comments about the film and the critics. Similarly, Ethan’s crush is Diazo, and it becomes apparent that he is romantically interested in him when he visits the family farm. However, his sexuality is more explicitly expressed during a scene with Ethan and his (Dennis Quaid’s) Jaeger’s grandfather.

Jaeger asks Ethan if he has a girlfriend, and Ethan responds by blushing. After that, Ethan’s grandfather wanted to know who he was and Ethan said that he was Diazo. After hearing that, Jaeger was not surprised.
Strange World fans react to first gay teen hero
The character played by Jaboukie Young-White (Ethan Clade) has been making headlines since the release of the Disney movie. He is Disney’s first major gay character and many viewers are happy to see him.
Prior to the film’s release, Don Hall discussed the project in the media and discussed having an openly gay character: While discussing the character, Ethan Clade with VarietyDon says: “His homosexuality is a part of him. He’s also bold and tremendously empathetic, which is why he becomes something of a conservationist in our movie..”
Now many Disney fans are happy and thank and appreciate Disney for being eager for sexual representation. Fans took to social media to thank the Disney and Strange World director. One Twitter user said: “It’s crazy how two movies were released on the same day with cool gay characters in the lead.”
