Biography of Tamara Keith
Tamara Keith is an American journalist currently serving as NPR’s White House correspondent and co-host, with Scott Detrow of the NPR Politics Podcast joining as a business reporter in 2009. She later covered the Haiti earthquake and introduced B. -side Radio, a 72-episode Public Radio Podcast from 2001 to 2010.
Tamara regularly appears on PBS NewsHour’s weekly “Politics Monday” segment and on the board of the White House Correspondents Association. In 2007, Keith received first place in the “Remarkable History, Radio” category for “Wastewater from Overcrowded Prisons Poses Environmental Hazard (Mule Creek Prison)” in The California Report of the Society of Environmental Journalists in the sixth annual contest.
Keith moved to Hanford, California when she was eight years old. She then started on radio as a “teen essayist” for NPR’s Sunday weekend edition. She then graduated from high school early, received a bachelor’s degree in philosophy from the University of California, Berkeley in three years. At age 19, she enrolled at the Berkeley Graduate School of Journalism, eventually majoring in journalism.
