Thalia Assuras is an experienced American television journalist and president of a consulting practice focused on media operations, training, strategic planning and executive coaching. She currently hosts the CBS Evening News with Dan Rather.
Before getting a job at CBS, Thalia worked at CITY-TV and Global Television. She also worked for a time as a reporter and weekend anchor for CityPulse from 1985 to 1988. At Global Television, she served as a nightly news anchor in the year 1989.
Starting in 1992, she worked for CTV as a presenter on Canada AM. Later, in May 1993, Assuras moved to ABC, joining Aaron Brown as a co-host of World News Now and ABC World News This Morning. She even shared a news desk with Boyd Matson, Kevin Newman and Mark Mullen before leaving ABC in January 1997.
In 1997, Thalia moved to CBS, first joining CBS Eye on People, a cable network that CBS introduced in March 1997. She later worked as a national correspondent, eventually anchoring the CBS Morning News on 1998
Her next step led to her co-anchoring The Saturday Early Show in 1999 and the CBS Evening News Saturday the same year with Russ Mitchell. Later, after moving to the United States, she anchored energyNOW, a weekly half-hour TV magazine and opinion platform produced by the American Clean Skies Foundation. This show first aired on WJLA-TV and then spread to Bloomberg Television.
It was after working at energyNOW that she established her consulting practice which focuses primarily on strategic planning, media relations, crisis management, media training and executive coaching.
