Bill Pullman, who is active on stage, television, and film, is an American acting veteran who has been in the industry since the mid-1980s. His remarkable films include Ruthless People, Spaceballs, and While You Were Sleeping. In recent years, Pullman is best known for his role as Detective Harry Ambrose in the USA Network television series The Sinner. The American actor was born William James Pullman on December 17, 1953, in Hornell, New York. He is one of the 7 children of James Pullman and Johanna (née Blaas). Both his parents work in the medical field, his father is a doctor, and his mother a nurse. Pullman wanted to become a civil engineer, but in college, he fell in love with the theater. He taught theater for a while before he tried his hand at the stage at the suggestion of his students.
Pullman appeared in a number of stage productions in New York before he made his screen debut in 1986 in the film Ruthless People. While acting in films and television shows, Pullman remained true to his theater roots. He received reviews for his role in Edward Albee’s Broadway play “The Goat, or Who is Sylvia?”, which was performed for a year, from 2001 to 2002.

Bill Pullman’s education began in his hometown of Hornell New York, where he attended Hornell High School and graduated in 1971. Almost immediately he enrolled at the State University of New York in Delhi – a technology-oriented school from which he hoped to obtain a degree in civil engineering.
However, after falling in love with the performing arts, Pullman transferred to the State University of New York at Oneonta, where he was to earn a Bachelor of Arts degree in Theater Studies in 1975. Pullman holds a master’s degree in directing from the University of Massachusetts Amherst.
In the hope of obtaining a professorship, Bill Pullman began teaching theater at the School of Film and Photography at Montana State University. On May 14, 2011, he will be awarded an honorary doctorate from Alfred University, Western New York (of which he is one of the board members).

Paxton had died from complications of a heart operation he had had on February 14. A native of Texas, Pullman was known for his action film roles in The Terminator (1984), Weird Science (1985), and True Lies (1994). He played Brock Lovett in the iconic love movie Titanic (1997).

Bill Pullman is married to Tamara Hurwitz. She is a modern dancer and of Norwegian descent. The couple formed the alliance in 1987 and have remained together since then. They performed together in the theatrical dance piece “Healing Wars”, which was performed in June 2014 on the arena stage in Washington, D.C.

Pullman and his wife are very committed to community service. They have organized square dances, the proceeds of which are once again going into supporting the community.
