Born in 1993 as Francis Stanley Kaminsky III, the amazing player celebrates his birthday every year on April 4. He was born in Winfield, Illinois, to Serbian-American parents Frank Kaminsky and his wife Mary Kaminsky. His father was a former basketball player on the University of Lewis basketball team, while his mother played volleyball for Northwestern University. When Frank was five years old, his uncle and wife worked for the Chicago Bulls while people like Randy Brown and Michael Jordan were still on the team. This gave Frank access to the Bulls’ training facilities.
After developing a strong passion for the game as a child, Kaminsky enrolled at Benet Academy, where he began his youth career. Under coach Gene Heidkamp, Frank led the Benet basketball team to a 24-4 overall record in the 2009/10 season. He received the “All-Conference”, “All-State” and “All-Area Conference” awards after he averaged 10.0 rebounds and 13 points per game in his junior season. Frank continued to make progress in his senior team, averaging 8.7 rebounds and 14.2 points per game this season. He was selected as the first team in the first all-state team and was honored with the “Player of the Year” award by the East Suburban Catholic Conference. His jersey number 44 was withdrawn from school in 2017.

After an impressive high school career, the talented basketball player switched to the Badgers at the University of Wisconsin for his college career. As a rookie in the 2011/12 season, Kaminsky played in 35 games for the Wisconsin Badgers with 1.4 rebounds and 1.8 points per game. The following year Frank had an average of 1.8 rebounds and 4.2 points per game.
In his junior year, Kaminsky led his team into the last four of the NCAA tournament with an average of 6.3 rebounds and 13.9 points per game. At the end of the season, coaches and media voted him into the top team in the All-Big Ten, while his outstanding performance earned him the NCAA West Region Most Outstanding Player of the Year award. In the final season of his college career, he won the Kareem Abdul Jabbar Award, the National College Player of the Year Award, and the Big Ten Player of the Year Award. He also won the MVP of the Big Ten Tournament after averaging 8.2 rebounds and 18.8 points per game in the 2014/15 season.

Frank Kaminsky joined the NBA Draft 2015 where he was selected by the Charlotte Hornets as the ninth overall draft choice. Kaminsky joined the Hornets and signed his contract as a rookie on July 2, 2015. In his rookie season, Frank was given a longer playing time following the absence of injured Al Jefferson. By the end of the season, he averaged 4.1 rebounds and 7.5 points per game.
In the 2016/17 season, the Hornets’ big man showed marked improvement; he scored 4.5 rebounds and 11.7 points per game, while he made 75 appearances for the Hornets.
