Andrew Humprey is an American Emmy Award-winning meteorologist and reporter and currently works at WDIV-TvLocal 4. Humphrey is the first and only Detroit with two degrees in meteorology and the first and only broadcast meteorologist in America and the world with a degree in meteorology. by MIT.
Andrew has covered reporting on severe weather, the environment and science for live and packaged broadcasts. He also produced regular weekly franchise segments and weather forecasts for online platforms. An AMS-certified broadcast meteorologist, Andrew produces his own charts using a variety of graphics systems.
Previously, he served as a meteorologist at NBC affiliate WRC and Fox affiliate WTTG in Washington. Andrew gained international recognition and experience through his service on CNN and CNNI in Atlanta and on NBC Europe in London.
Prior to his broadcasting career, Andrew served as a research scientist at the National Weather Service. While still in school, she interned in the Biospheric and Planetary Sciences at NASA’s Goddard Space Flight Center. He also worked at the Atmospheric Administration’s National Center for Environmental Prediction, studying gravity waves, deforestation, climate change and the environment.
Andrew began his career as a broadcast meteorologist in 1995 at NBC-affiliated WRC-TV in Washington, DC. Atlanta, Georgia. Later, in 2002, Andrew became a meteorologist and reporter for WDIV-TV (NBC) in Detroit.
