After suffering a stroke, Letang was forced to sit out for six weeks. Letang was selected to represent the Metropolitan Division in the 2016 NHL All-Star Game in 2015-16. In the Stanley Cup Finals, he became the fourth player in NHL history to have a point on all four game-winning goals.
Letang had neck surgery due to a bulging disc in his neck in the 2016–17 season and did not play in the playoffs, but his name was added to the Stanley Cup and he was awarded a day with the cup.
