Mike Taylor is an American meteorologist who recently works at WXYZ. He joined 7 Action News and the 7 First Alert Weather Team in 2018. Taylor previously worked for our sister station, ABC 2 in Baltimore, and CBS affiliate in Champaign, Illinois, WCIA-TV, as a weatherman.
Mike graduated from Mississippi State University with a BA in Meteorology. In addition, he has a master’s degree in atmospheric science and recently holds the National Weather Association’s Seal of Approval.
In December 2018, Mike joined 7 Action News and First Alert Weather Team. Previously, he worked as a meteorologist for Our Sister Station, ABC 2 Baltimore, and the CBS affiliate in Champaign, WCIA-TV. Taylor was on the air during the November 17, 2013 Tornado Outbreak, when several tornadoes ripped through the state. He worked with his boss and morning weather forecasters for 4 hours straight to get the new weather warnings and updates out to the public.
Despite this, Taylor worked as the chief meteorologist for WBKB-TV in Alpena, Michigan. Fortunately, he won a meteorologist of the year award.
