Tom Sater is a renowned meteorologist and weather anchor for CNN International based in Atlanta. The five-time Emmy Award-winning meteorologist also provided reports on sister networks such as CNN/US and HLN.
He is a member of the National Weather Association, where he won the American Meteorological Society’s Seal of Approval. In his position as senior meteorologist, Tom has covered many international weather stories, including Super Typhoon Haiyan in November 2013.
At one point, when covering the impact of landfall in the Philippines, Sater was one of the first international broadcasters to report on the storms. This was the strongest typhoon to make landfall on any landmass in recorded history.
This report led CNN to win the Best International News Coverage category for its report on Typhoon Haiyan. This was at the prestigious Royal Television Society Awards.
Prior to joining CNNI, Tom worked as a meteorologist in several US markets. These included Washington, DC; Atlanta, Georgia; Cincinnati, Ohio; Montgomery, Alabama, Lexington and Kentucky. In that order, he won a regional Emmy Award for Outstanding Weather Broadcasting on WKYT as the station’s chief meteorologist.
