Michelle Rotella is an American weatherman, actress, model, dancer, and stylist who currently works as a senior broadcast weatherman on the AccuWeather Network. She joined AccuWeather Network in April 2021. Previously, she served on Fox 5 DC as a weatherman from August 2018 to March 2021.
Rotella was born and raised in the Gaithersburg and Fredrick, Maryland areas. Her love and passion for the weather began when she watched The Weather Channel with her mother when she was a child. Michelle graduated from high school at sixteen. Later, in 2004, she attended Fredrick Community College and graduated in 2006 in Arts and Science.
Furthermore, she pursued her dreams of becoming a meteorologist while pursuing her undergraduate degree at Florida State University based in Tallahassee, Florida. At the university, she participated in the student-led weather program, broadcast live Monday through Friday in Tallahassee and Panama City. While at FSU, Michelle interned on ABC and CBS, WTXL and WCTV. She graduated in May 2009 with a BA in Meteorology and a Major in Mathematics and Physics.
After Rotella graduated in December 2009, she joined WeatherBug’s weather team in Germantown, Maryland, forecasting the national weather and producing weather charts and web content. In October 2010, she returned to Florida and joined WOKV Newstalk Radio in Jacksonville, where she served as an afternoon news producer and weekday live news anchor.

In the season, she gained experience in forecasting snow, northeast, hurricanes and other extreme weather. Later, in November 2014, she accepted a weekday meteorologist position at HMTV6 based in Hagerstown, Maryland, where she was quickly offered and accepted the role of chief meteorologist.
Also, Michelle’s dream of working in a big market and a big city finally came true when she joined WCCB Charlotte CW in Queen City. She joined WCCB in October 2015 and left in November 2017 to join Fox 45 (WBFF-TV Baltimore) as a freelance meteorologist. She served on the station from November 2017 to June 2018. From March 2019 to July 2019, she served as a freelance meteorologist at SBG Harrisburg Sales and Marketing before joining Fox 5 DC in August 2018 until March 2021.
Furthermore, Michelle was an America’s Next Weathermen contestant on TBS Network. She completed all eight episodes of the show which had 12 contestants through varied challenges to compete for the job of America’s next great meteorologist. She also trained in different dance genres such as Breakdance, contemporary and hip-hop. Furthermore, Rotella also worked as a model for commercials.
During her free time, Michelle enjoys working out, watching movies, having friends over, dancing in clubs and chasing storms. She is also a huge fan of college football and the NFL, cheering for her Florida State Seminoles, along with her father’s Washington Redskins and her stepfather’s Pittsburgh Steelers.
