Vic Carter Biography
Vic Carter is an American journalist who has currently worked as an anchor and reporter for WJZ-TV since joining the network in 1995. For a period of 30 years, he approached his work with this philosophy. He followed stories and took viewers around the world; from the Columbia jungles in South America.
Additionally, he was the only Baltimore television journalist to take viewers to the funeral of Pope John Paul II at the Vatican, Italy. For six days, Vic anchored the WJZ’s coverage live from Italy. In addition, he covered some of the biggest news in the world that made headlines. Since 1995, he has been delivering news for the WJZ, where he currently hosts news 4, 6 and 11.
His stories on the television show he is a talented journalist who is more than willing to leave the studio and take on the difficult stories. In his career, he has met and interviewed six presidents of the United States and other notables in contemporary history, including Rosa Parks and many others.

Most notably, his career began days after graduating with honors from Morehead State University. He currently serves on the MSU Foundation Board of Trustees and has been a Visiting Speaker and Black Scholar Residence. His career took him to jobs at WSET-TV in Lynchburg, WRAL-TV in Raleigh, WSB-TV in Atlanta, and finally WJZ-TV in Baltimore. At age 23, he received broadcasting’s highest honor, the George Foster Peabody Award.
Additionally, he was named Journalist of the Year by the University of Georgia School of Journalists and was inducted into the National Association of Black Journalists Hall of Fame. He believes in helping strengthen the Baltimore community by volunteering his time and lending his energy to various non-profit organizations.
