Lauren Lake is an American family attorney, author, interior designer, real estate developer, background singer, legal/relationship/life consultant, guest host, and talk show host. Lake has guest presenter and news anchor roles for various talk shows and legal reality shows.
At her guesthouse, Lauren tackled racial, ethnic, gender and controversial political issues head-on. She was the host of HGTV’s Spice Up My Kitchen how-to series. Elsewhere, Lake presided as arbitration judge on her own tabloid/non-traditional court series, Lauren Lake’s Paternity Court. The series lasted 7 seasons.
Lauren will return to the courtroom lineup, taking on the revival of We the People in her own We the People issue with Judge Lauren Lake. The series will return in Fall 2022, produced by Byron Allen’s Entertainment Studios.
Lauren Lake Education
Lake graduated from Mercy High School in Farmington Hills, Michigan, in 1986. At the institution, she was named a National Merit Scholar. Lauren then joined the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor, Michigan, where she graduated with a BA in English in May 1990. At the same time, she received her high school certificate.
Lake graduated from Wayne State University Law School in Detroit, Michigan in May 1993 with a Juris Doctorate. in June 1995, Lauren was admitted to the Michigan State Bar. Lauren serves as executive producer and judge on the Emmy-award-winning daytime legal program, Lauren Lake’s Paternity Court. She has also been a guest presenter and anchor on numerous talk shows and legal reality shows.
Lake moved to New York in 1999 to start his career as an artist. She began singing backgrounds for multi-platinum artists such as Mary J. Blige, Sean “Puff Daddy” Combs, Jay-Z, Dr. Dre, Snoop Dogg, among others.
In the long run, Lauren began writing and recording her own music and performing throughout the New York metropolitan area. Later, she was chosen from thousands of women to appear in the series On To Live and Date in New York. The series chronicled the love lives of independent and single women in New York. Before long, she had developed a large local following, causing the Female Entertainment Channel to broadcast her nationally as “Single in the City.”
Lauren worked as a correspondent, expert and life coach for The Greg Behrendt Show, where she helped navigate dating dilemmas, career changes and domestic disputes. On The Ricki Lake show, Lauren has served as a legal and relationship expert and life coach.

Lake pursued his passion as an interior designer in the entertainment industry, where he appeared on TLC shows such as While You Were Out and Trading Spaces. Between May 2007 and 2009, Lauren hosted 47 episodes of the hit HGTV show Spice Up My Kitchen. She majored in transforming ordinary kitchens into stylish kitchens.
Lauren has made regular appearances on Dr. Phil and The View as a legal expert. She has also made other television appearances, including The Today Show, The O’Reilly Factor, The Bill Cunningham Show, Regis & Kelly, Montel Williams and The Morning Show with Mike and Juliet. Lake was also invited as a guest presenter/anchor and legal analyst for MSNBC and TryTV. She has been a regular on-air commentator for various news programs on CNN, Headline News, Fox News Channel and CNBC since 2005.
Lauren is also a co-founder of the Women in Entertainment Empowerment Network (WEEN). The network is determined to promote the positive portrayal of women in entertainment and society through national mentoring and outreach programs for young women.
