Kathy Sabine is a seven Emmy Award-winning Chief Meteorologist and currently serves as Chief Meteorologist for KUSA-9News in Denver, Colorado. Sabine is known as one of the oldest meteorologists, serving over two decades. In fact, she just celebrated her 26th birthday at the station this year and is still going strong.
Kathy was born on the 3rd of July in Truckee, California. She then attended a small school. To be precise, her elementary school at Donner Pass was actually two rooms for five grades. Each series was a row of desks; literally putting line one at degree one. Likewise, she joined a minor school for her high school studies. As she described in an interview, the school had only one hundred children.
Her parents at the time owned a local ski hill where she grew up skiing, hiking and camping on the premises. This lifestyle of living big in outdoor facilities, nature and mountains really got her interested in living in Colorado. It had already become part of her lifestyle.
She then joined Cal Poly State University in San Luis Obispo, California, graduating as a senior. Furthermore, she also majored in meteorology from Metropolitan State University in Denver. In addition to her education, she also attended Mississippi State University. Since her graduation, she has been working on screens.
Kathy first entered the field of Journalism at NBC after graduating from Cal Poly State University in 1988. She has worked at NBC, ABC and Fox Network, during which time she had the opportunity to work with Bill O’Reilly, Martha MacCallum and Bret Baier.
