Biography of Pastor Robert Morris
Pastor Robert Morris is the founder and lead pastor of Gateway Church, a multi-campus church based in the Dallas/Fort Worth Metroplex. Since its inception in 2000, the church has grown to over 71,000 active members.
Robert’s television show is broadcast in over 190 countries. Additionally, his radio show, Worship & the Word with Pastor Robert, is broadcast in over 1,800 radio markets across America.
Morris was born and raised in a Christian home, where he entered ministry at a young age. However, he was an illicit drug user and sexually promiscuous until he genuinely gave his life to Christ at age 19.
Robert grew up teaching cautious Charismatic doctrine and attended two Southern Baptist colleges. However, he never obtained a degree. After he became friends with James Robison, the former Baptist evangelist, Morris now serves as an apostolic elder at Gateway. Furthermore, he even served as an associate pastor at a local church before resigning a year before Gateway Church was established.

In the same year, Robert preached for the Trinity Fellowship Network, an Amarillo-based network of charismatic churches led by Jimmy Evans. Jimmy is famous for his Marriage Today ministry. However, he also serves as one of Gateway’s senior pastors.
As of now, Robert’s TV show; Pastor Robert Morris Ministries who was formerly known as The Blessed Life broadcasts on both Trinity Broadcasting Network and Daystar Television Network. Morris openly supports Christians to be active in the public arena. Additionally, he is a member of President Donald Trump’s Executive Council of Evangelical Leaders. However, this earned him public enmity among liberal Christians.
On Easter Sunday 2000, Morris launched Gateway Church from a hotel in Gravepine, Texas. Later, in June 2003, the church planned to open its original Southlake campus. The campus opened and is now home to The King’s University, an unaccredited Bible College founded by Jack Hayfor. This was after the University moved from California in 2012.
As of 2020, the church claims over 40,000 active members. That would be fair to make it one of the largest churches in the United States. Gateway runs 27 services each weekend at eight locations, with its main campus at 4,000 Southlake, Texas. Other campuses are located at; North Richland Hills, North Fort Worth, North Dallas, Frisco, Grand Prairie and Jackson Hole, Wyoming.
In addition, the church has two prison campuses; one inside the Coffield Unit, the largest prison in the Texas prison system, and another in the Estes Unit), with a ninth location planned for Justin (northwest of Southlake) planned for late 2019.
Robert is also an author with 14 books, all taken from various sermon series. His church also produces music through Gateway Worship.
