Brent Cameron biography
Brent Cameron is an American weatherman who currently serves as a weekend weatherman on WSVN’s 7 News. He is a member of the National Weather Association.
Cameron has always been on the lookout to update you on weather conditions when you need it most. He will calmly guide you through storms and help you prepare. He is always aware of the marine weather, as South Florida is used to boating. In addition, cruise passengers from the Port of Miami or Port Everglades often check their forecasts for tide information.
Cameron joined WSVN in the summer of 1999, completing a decade of service with 7 Weather Center! He vividly remembers preparing to move to Miami.
“A friend told me I had done it,” he recalls, “this job would be in paradise and the forecast would be as predictable as the weather.”
Your forecasting experience covers a variety of climates, from mountains to ocean waters, with many volatile plains in between. He began his forecasting career in western Montana, where he was hired by KPAX-TV, Missoula, as their lead weather anchor in 1994.
A year later, Cameron moved to work at WPTA-TV in Ft Wayne Indiana, near his hometown of Wabash. He spent five years at the station causing tornadoes while monitoring wild weather extremes in the Midwest. He then got the chance to work in Miami, leaving the station after several years of excellent service.

In 2003, Brent returned to Indiana to join the nation’s largest weather team at the WTHR in Indianapolis. This took place in a separate studio that housed a 24-hour weather station called “SkyTrak”. They tracked storms and blizzards continuously for hours (in the air) from Illinois to Ohio. After some time, Cameron missed Florida and returned to work at WSVN as a weatherman over the weekend.
Some of his notable weather coverages include the “Indy 500” Tornado Outbreak of 2004 and Hurricane Wilma in 2005. Both events have earned him respect for their impact in highlighting what nature is capable of. He is also a former presenter of the Children’s Miracle Network Telethon and has donated his time to the Make a Wish Foundation. Cameron is an avid animal lover and has worked with the Humane Society on a number of events.
You can always see Brent’s weather forecasts on weekend nights on 7 News at 5pm, 6pm, 10pm and 11pm. He also occasionally fills in for Chief Meteorologist Phil Ferro.
Cameron is trained in State University of Ball specializing in Telecommunications. In college, he was a member of the Delta Tau Delta Fraternity, as well as the student body president-elect from 1990-1991. Furthermore, he graduated in Broadcast Meteorology from Mississippi State University.
