David was born with Cerebral Palsy on October 28, 1953, in Jonesboro, Arkansas. He was orphaned at age 14 and tossed from family to family with nowhere to call home. He had to deal with lingering physical pain, humiliating public criticism and frustration. Despite these almost overwhelming challenges, David emerged not victimized…but victorious!
Life was hopeless for him until he met Jesus Christ, who taught him self-respect and acceptance of his physical problems. Physical obstacles on this scale would be considered a tombstone by most people. David Ring’s coming of age was and remains a defining moment in his life.
David is unlike any other speaker you’ve ever heard. Although he may be difficult to understand at first, his quick wits and gentle attitude will soon captivate him.

Ring is the son of the Baptist pastor Oscar Newton ring. Ring’s father died in 1964. Cancer took his mother four years later, leaving him an orphan at the age of fourteen. He tried to commit suicide, but with his sister’s intervention, David was able to give his life to Christ.

After his sister’s intervention, David returned Liberty High School in Liberty, Missouri, where he graduated in 1971. Ring received a Bachelor of Arts degree from William Jewell College in Liberty in 1976, where he was a member of the Lambda Chi Alpha fraternity.
