Llarisa Abreu is an award-winning American meteorologist and journalist. She is currently working at CBS 3 News, KNSD, based in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, as a weekday morning weather anchor. Abreu joined the station’s staff in February 2020. Prior to joining CBS 3, she served as a weekend weather anchor and weekday lead fill anchor at NBC News in San Diego, California.
Llarisa began her broadcasting career on The Accuweather Network, acting as an on-air bilingual broadcaster. It was there that she predicted all sorts of severe weather events, from hurricanes to deadly tornadoes that ravaged the central and southern parts of the US in 2014 and the active winter season of 2016.
Furthermore, during her time in California, she won her first Emmy for outstanding coverage of the team during the devastating Lilac fire of 2017. Additionally, she was nominated by The San Diego Union-Tribune as the Best Meteorologist in San Diego in 2018. .
Abreu got her to start an intern at NBC Miami and landed her first production job at Univision. Llarisa participated Mississippi State University and graduated in Geosciences in Applied Meteorology. In addition, from 2007 to 2010, she participated Passaic County Community College and received an Associate of Arts in Communication and Media Studies. Abreu also holds a bachelor’s degree in Broadcasting and Television Technology from Barry University in 2012.
