Elyse Smith is an American meteorologist who is currently working at WGRZ-TV in Buffalo, New York as a weekend night meteorologist since January 2020. After graduating from the University of Valparaiso with a Bachelor of Science in Meteorology in 2017, Elyse began her career in downtown Missouri covering everything from ice storms to tornadoes in and out of the television studio.
However, during her college years, Smith interned with the SinClairBroadcast Group in Birmingham, Alabama as a weather intern. She also interned at WGN-TV as a weather intern for chief meteorologist Tom Skilling and weather producer Bill Snyder.
In July 2017, Elyse got a full-time job as a weatherman at KRCG-TV, where he worked as a weatherman on weekend evenings and weekly mornings. Furthermore, after working for nearly three years, she got her current job at WGRZ-Tv as a weekend night weatherman.
In addition to Smith’s daily work at WGRZ, Elyse is also very involved with the American Meteorological Society (AMS) and the National Weather Association (NWA). She was recently due to serve a three-year term on the AMS Early Career Leadership Academy Planning Committee after graduating from her class as youngest in 2019.
When not working, Elyse can easily be found at the yoga studio, watching football, or learning (trying) a new recipe.
