Anthony Farnell is a Canadian meteorologist who currently serves as the chief meteorologist for Global News Toronto. He developed a love of the weather at a very young age. In elementary school, he remembers spending most of his time looking out the window at the developing clouds. That was one of the things that sparked his love for the weather.
One of the main events that sparked his love of the weather was an event in 1998, the “Ice Storm of the Century”. Anthony continued his passion and earned a Bachelor of Science in Meteorology from Lyndon State College in 2003. After graduating, he began his on-air career at KPAX in Missoula, Montana. There he worked as a morning weatherman.
Later, in 2005, he returned to Montreal, where he worked briefly at Bellator Energy, trading climate derivatives. In the same year he joined the Global Montreal nightly news but quickly moved to Global Toronto in 2006. There he became a chief meteorologist and has since covered many important stories.
Furthermore, he is a longtime supporter of Michael Garron Hospital. He helps several local charities, including Muscular Dystrophy Canada, among others. He has also been an Engage and Changes ambassador for over a decade. When he’s off duty, he loves to hike, bike and ski.
