Three years and hundreds of sporting activities later, the marriage was arranged by Abby and Jeff. The bride learned that the groom’s opinions are always left out. At the wedding, Abby wanted Jeff to feel “at home” too. She asked him to characterize her dream wedding in one word. Your reaction? Funny.
Knowing she needed to incorporate fun and games into an intimate wedding, Abby agreed to form a band. It was designed as a football team by the sports-loving bride. If talented point guards surround a quarterback, the QB is more likely to win the game. Abby (and her mom, the head coach!) collaborated with creative, hard-working teammates to create a beautiful wedding for the couple.
…….
Abby dreamed of an exquisite wedding filled with flowers; a backyard soiree preceded by a sports-themed reception. The bride’s team (called “The Dream Team”) found many ways to introduce sports into the ceremony without reducing the level of sophistication. Knowing that many feminine features will be present, Abby and her Dream Team created The Dugout. The special location allowed guests to select stadium food (gourmet hot dogs, sliders, pretzels, mac and cheese and other stadium favorites) while looking at photos of Abby and Jeff at various stadiums. There was mostly Jeff’s St. Louis Cardinals cake at one show!
The Ogle Family Band, starring several members of the Abby family, was the focus of the reception. Uncle Kent’s Abby sang while her father played the drums. Surprisingly, Jeff joined them! Little did the bride suspect that her fiancé had been rehearsing for weeks!
The photo booth was another enjoyable aspect of the evening. The pair wanted theirs to be distinctive, so they made “big heads” for tourists to use in their photos. Guests applauded the couple at the end of the night as they left the ceremony with pompoms reflecting their respective team colors.
Abby and Jeff believe their marriage ambitions have been realized. This sports-loving couple treats their union like a home run!
