Adam Benigni is an Emmy-winning American sports director and anchor of WGRZ-Tv in Buffalo, New York. Benigni anchors the station’s nightly news from Sunday to Thursday.
A native of Bridgewater, Massachusetts, Adam participated Syracuse University Newhouse School of Public Communications and graduated Magna Cum Laude in 1991.
Prior to joining WGRZ, Benigni spent five years at WSTM-TV, an NBC affiliate in Syracuse, as a sports anchor and reporter. During his stay in downtown New York, Adam also worked as a radio commentator for the American Hockey League’s Syracuse Crunch.
Adam has worked with 2-On-Your-Side since July 1997. His first day on the job was the day the Sabers introduced Lindy Ruff as head coach. During his stay in Buffalo, Adam covered everything from the Bills and NFL to numerous Saber playoffs and a trip to the Stanley Cup Finals in 1999.
He joined WGRZ as a weekend anchor and currently anchors Sunday-Thursday night sports broadcasts. In addition, he hosts Sports Talk Sunday and features nightly news during the week when top talent is absent.
For his outstanding work, Adam has received numerous awards over the years, which include four Emmy nominations, two Edward R. Murrow regional awards for sports reporting, an Associated Press first place award for his coverage of the Sabers to Europe in 2011, and a Best of Gannett for Anchoring and Sports Reporting in 2006.
