Liz Lewin is a multifaceted American journalist currently working for WGRZ-TV in Buffalo, New York. She was born and raised in Buffalo, New York. Lewin is a proud graduate of Elmwood Franklin School and Buffalo Seminary.
Her love for the public started at a very young age, when she started performing at Studio Arena at age 5. That took her to Fordham University in New York, where she was one of thousands who auditioned for acceptance into the acclaimed theater program.
After her acceptance into the show, Liz’s love for communicating messages to a wider audience grew even stronger. This led her to change her major to Communication and Media Studies and says it was the best decision she ever made, although she didn’t know it at the time.

After her graduation from Fordham, Liz returned to Buffalo to explore a new passion in journalism. She started out working for four years at Buffalo State College as a reporter and producer for the Athletic show, “Bengal Magazine”. After the service, Liz decided to hone her skills at Syracuse University’s Newhouse School of Public Communications, where she focused on Broadcast and Digital Journalism.
After her graduation from Newhouse, Liz returned to Buffalo and restarted her career in Communications. She worked as a communications specialist at Mayor Byron Brown’s communications office. In her role, Liz wrote, reported and produced a new show called “Buffalo: Youth is Our Future”.
After City Hall, she worked as a reporter at WKBW in Buffalo, before leaving Buffalo to spend time with her sister in Boston. At WKBW, Liz worked as a reporter and anchor. However, after a few years, she worked as a weekend and morning anchor at WILX. In 2018, Liz returned to her homeland of Buffalo to start a new adventure in Public Relations as a Public Relations Manager at The Martin Group.

Lewin’s passion for Buffalo runs deep, as is his passion for its culture. A proud Latina, she grew up in a bilingual, bicultural home and attributes her experiences as the lens through which she sees the world. As a journalist, Liz aims more than anything to identify the silence and struggles in her community and give them a voice and a platform.
When Liz is not working, she is spending time with her family, friends and her puppy, Halo Olivia. In addition, she is a long-time volunteer and advocate for The Buffalo Urban League, the WNY Women’s Foundation, and the Roswell Park Alliance Foundation. Liz is also a proud member of the NABJ’s Buffalo Chapter and the 2 On Your Side team.
